Dreaming of a "Grown Up" Bedroom: a Round Up of Cozy Neutral Bedrooms

It's honeslty impossible to decide what part of this house I'm most excited about, but having a "real" bedroom is up there. Our previous home was under 1000 sqft, and only four rooms total: a living room, a kitchen/dining room combo, a large bathroom (I still miss that bathroom somedays 😂) and a teeny, tiny little bedroom. This bedroom was so, so SO tiny! Thinking back, I have no idea how we fit the two of us, our two large pups AND a king size bed in there... you basically just had to shimmy your way around the room. I put little to no design effort into the room as there was basically no wall space, so for years I have been pining for a dreamy bedroom!
Enter: the new house. If you're new here, my husband and I bought a 1920's centerhall colonial that sat mostly abandoned for the better part of a decade. During that time, the home took quite a beating, including some extensive water damage. As such, we decided to apply for a construction loan, take the house mostly to studs and give it a much needed facelift. At some point in this house's 100 years, someone added a full shed dormer to the back of the attic, really opening up the space. The previous owners were using it for storage, but the second we stepped foot up there I knew it had so much more potential.
For the new layout, we have divide the large space into three sections: a bathroom, the main bedroom and a walk in closet. I want this entire space to feel like a calm breath. Because our home backs up into protected forest, I am drawing inspiration from woodland cottages and cozy cabins. I will be focusing on very muted tones: mostly neutrals and earthy tones, but leaning into patterns and texture for depth and added comfort.

Texture on texture on texture: Jute rug, lived in linen sheets, raw wood - don't you just want to cancel all of your plans and crawl into this bed??

I love this little nook so much. We have two dormer nooks that I plan to style in a similar way for reading or simply gazing out the window.

I am 100% adding an overstuffed chaise to the room! It will sit in front of a window overlooking the woods, and under a skylight - I think it will become an even more coveted spot than the bed itself.

We also had a gas line piped in so we could add a fireplace in the near future when our budget allows. I am envisioning something very rustic and muted, like this fireplace from Magnolia, to stay on trend with the cozy cabin feel.
